Artistic Approach / english

The thought of Auguste Herbin is a source of inspiration for my inner world, which I wish to dedicate to the creation of the world of glass. (Quote seen at the Matisse Museum 2024)

“Nothing will stop abstract plastic art—the very expression of being. That is to say, of humankind in its entirety, of humankind drawing essential truths from its own nature.”

Since the 1990s, I have developed a desire to deform and shape, a glass bubble, in order to explore the paths that constraint can impose on the material and to glimpse new freedoms of expression. Numerous pieces express this vast idea, developed over all these years in glass and under various influences.

Assembled Bubbles (1991-1999).
Small masses of glass are attached to glass bubbles according to a design, playing on viscosity and the force of movement, the spontaneity of the association (Ensemble).

Embedded Bubble (1998-2023).
A blown bubble within a metal frame that ultimately becomes a support; the whole takes on meaning. In this spirit, I have explored geometric metal forms (some containing obstacles to vary the blown shapes), sinuous lines, and bronze and aluminum castings, creating ensembles where the bubbles share space, each reflecting its own personality.
They express coexistence within a group; shyness (a theme in the research of biologist Francis Hallé) (Shy Trees, Passenger), human relationships and social bonds (Guiding Thread, Couple’s Imprint), or even small stories (Bubble Story).

Glass and steel semi-circular piece (2000-2019).
This technique, based on an unusual positioning of the elements, allowed me to play with balance and swaying, not without a hint of eroticism and a role reversal where the glass bubble supports the metal (Culbuto, Fille).

Seats and wildflowers in glass cabochons (2020-2025).
The assembly of three-dimensional rings allowed me to imagine creations for both indoor and outdoor use.
Functional pieces: benches and armchairs made of blown glass cabochons inserted into a stainless steel structure (La Reine des poissons, Crapaud au clair de lune, Florescence, Conte moi fleurette). They visually and physically defy the perception of fragility.
Sculptural creations: tall, personalized, unique flowers on stands (Fleurs Sauvages, hedges de Fleurs sauvages).

The “Gardens” series (2016–2025).
A search for spontaneity through a mixed-media technique where glass is partly poured into removable or invisible molds, and partly stretched at the end of a ferret (iron rod) in a juggling act between hands and flowing hot glass. This results in a dreamlike ensemble, where a certain elegance is accentuated by a feminine satin pink (Gardens of Delights, The Forest of Mysteries ).

Buried Bubble (2009–2025)

Covering-concealing: a large blown bubble is buried under a multitude of colored glass pieces and a microbead foam. Revelations between burying and emerging, protruding from the crust, in search of a particular atmosphere and veiled softness (Sublime, Waves of Precious Secrets, Sensitive, Abyss of the Forgotten).
